I realized I haven’t had much organic modeling or animating to show for my demo reel, so I decided to take a few extra hours to model and animate this character. He’s designed after some of my own artwork that I make on my free time. Hit the jump to see some more shots and an embedded video of the playblasts so far.
This week, in my senior project, I worked on building a belt clutch to be added to the final scene. I rigged it using IK handles, and expression-driven animation. Hit the jump to see a playblast of the clutch in action.
Just to prove that I haven’t been dormant this winter break, I decided to post some pictures of my Senior Project in progress. I’ve pushed back my other side projects to make sure I dedicated some time into creating an incredibly immersive environment for my project.

This post is here to detail and track my progress with my Senior Studio project which serves as a thesis for my senior year. My project is to create a steam driven orrery, which I will spend my second semester animating, and rendering in the form of a short film.

Just to detail my ability to model and animate, I’m posting this quick video I made in my junior year of a 20 second 3D animation. My main tool is Autodesk Maya, but I usually add any post-production in AfterEffects. This animation was for my Animation III class, and I used a video of my roommate smoking a cigarette as my reference for animating.
